To honor the 100th anniversary of the women’s right to vote and some of Palm Beach County’s influential women and organizations in philanthropy, The Symphonia, South Florida’s chamber orchestra, is organizing a virtual celebration.

“A [Virtual] Symphony of Voices: A Celebration of Women in Philanthropy” will take place via Zoom Wednesday, Aug. 26, the day the 19th Amendment was officially adopted in 1920.

The virtual event starts with an interactive cocktail hour from 6 to 7 p.m. in Zoom Rooms for each organization or individual being honored. At 7 p.m., the main program will feature a presentation about the 19th Amendment by the League of Women Voters; profiles of each organization and honoree; and performances by some of the Boca Raton-based orchestra’s female musicians.

“Our honorees for ‘A Symphony of Voices’ are some of Palm Beach County’s most influential women in philanthropy — women who embody the same spirit as the suffragettes who fought for the vote 100 years ago — seeking to empower the powerless and give a voice to the voiceless,” Annabel Russell, The Symphonia’s executive director, said in a statement.

And the honorees are Impact 100 Palm Beach County and its all-female membership; Cherie Benjoseph, KidSafe Foundation co-founder; Nicolette Goldfarb, Boys & Girls Club of Palm Beach County board member; Lisa McDulin, Place of Hope‘s director of advancement; Judi Schuman, financial resource development chair, Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County; Dr. Kathy Schilling, Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation; and Stephanie Tunis, Junior League of Boca Raton‘s public affairs chair.
