Mission Statement

The mission of The SYMPHONIA is to enrich the South Florida community through distinctive musical performances and innovative educational outreach programs. Inspiring and engaging both existing and new audiences, The SYMPHONIA is committed to the highest standards of artistic excellence.

The SYMPHONIA, South Florida's World Class Chamber Orchestra, was founded in July 2004, as the Boca Raton Philharmonic Symphonia. The SYMPHONIA debuted its Connoisseur Concert Series during the 2005-06 artistic season. Since its inception, this series has been performed to wide critical acclaim.  With a repertoire blending classic with contemporary works, these concerts offer compositions from diverse composers, highlighting those that can best be brought to life by a chamber-size ensemble.  Performances have expanded to audiences in Ft. Lauderdale at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts’ Amaturo Theater and All Saints Episcopal Church, and to northern Palm Beach County at the Eissey Campus Theatre and Royal Poinciana Chapel.

The Connoisseur Concert Series remains the artistic centerpiece of The SYMPHONIA and the launching point for its other programs, such as Encore Connoisseur!, Meet the Orchestra, and Box Lunch-It with The SYMPHONIA, programs that enrich the community through distinctive musical performances and innovative educational outreach.  The SYMPHONIA consistently receives enthusiastic praise from music lovers and critics alike for its programming, repertoire choices and for the caliber of its guest artists and talented core musicians.

During the 2017-2018 season, The SYMPHONIA debuted a new evening concert at the Crest Theatre in Delray Beach, echoing some content from the Connoisseur Concerts, but with a fun and contemporary style of its own.  It brings non-traditional, interactive elements to the performance as a way of maximizing audience engagement and challenging the typical perceptions of the concert-going experience. Designed to appeal to a broader, more diverse audience base, plans are to expand this evening concert into a full series in 2018-2019.

The orchestra is proud of its String Outreach program, Building a Sting Orchestra and Self-Esteem, running at the Naoma Donnelly Haggin Boys' & Girls' Club in Delray Beach. This curriculum provides quality teaching for children who might not otherwise have the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument.

The SYMPHONIA is the official orchestra for Festival of the Arts BOCA and enjoys an acclaimed partnership with the Master Chorale of South Florida. Recognizing that the arts are essential to the quality of life, The SYMPHONIA works with The City of Boca Raton to develop concepts for ongoing Community Concerts.
