We recognize and honor those premier donors who have contributed $100,000 or more, cumulatively, to The SYMPHONIA. We could not accomplish our goals without the enthusiastic involvement and support of these individuals……our “forever friends.”

Marleen Forkas
“I’m delighted to enable more people to be able to hear our world class SYMPHONIA. I encourage the community to support classical music by subscribing to our exciting concert series!”

Well-known in Boca Raton for both her generous philanthropy and her glamorous hat collection, Marleen Forkas is a charter member of The Symphonia’s Elite Philanthropists Circle. Following a successful career in the fashion industry as an embroidery designer with an international client base, she has devoted her time and funds to supporting a wide variety of local cultural and charitable organizations.

In addition to The SYMPHONIA, where Marleen serves as a member of the Board of Directors, beneficiaries of her largesse include Florida Atlantic University, which awarded her FAU President’s Distinguished Service Medallion in 2008, Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation, Boca Ballet Theatre, the American Heart Association, Boca Raton Museum of Art and the Marleen Forkas Camps at the Levis Jewish Community Center.

Steve Pomeranz

“Music was always a part of my life, and so as an adult, it seemed natural for me to devote my time and resources to advance great music. I chose The SYMPHONIA because of its unwavering commitment to excellence and its desire to share the music with our entire community, including our young people. It's been my honor and privilege to have served as president of the Symphonia and it has truly been an enriching experience, which I will always treasure.”

Steve Pomeranz, a Certified Financial Planner, has been an investment advisor since 1981. Steve worked for large Wall Street companies before opening his own firm, recognizing that he could provide a better client experience. He educates the public through his weekly radio show, “The Steve Pomeranz Show,” which airs on multiple NPR affiliates.

Steve’s passion to help goes beyond assisting clients. His desire to give back to the community stems from his childhood, when the generosity of certain individuals and organizations gave him a boost to help succeed in life. He serves as a Board Member of Women in Distress, Chairman Emeritus of the Financial Planning Association, and President Emeritus of The SYMPHONIA.

Edith and Martin B.* Stein

“After the demise of the Florida Philharmonic in 2003, Martin and I both felt that it was imperative to keep classical music alive and available to the South Florida audience. We were able to financially support the efforts of establishing a new orchestra. It was, and still is, an honor, a privilege and a pleasure to continue help providing much needed funds to this significant cause.”

Edith and Martin Stein became permanent residents of Boca Raton in 1990 but never forgot their roots in New Jersey, where Martin began his career in his family business. From there, he moved on to become a real estate executive and then co-founder and Director of Enzon Pharmaceuticals.

Upon their move to Florida, the Steins quickly became involved in numerous civic and charitable organizations. However, the couple continued their support of many New Jersey institutions, including the Jewish Federation of Middlesex County, Temple Emanuel, Embrace Kids Foundation and others.

Within the Boca Raton community, they have been major philanthropists, giving both time and money to The SYMPHONIA, where Edith is a member of the Board and Martin holds the permanent title of Honorary Chairman. A few of the other organizations that benefit from their generosity include the Boca Raton Museum of Art, Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation, Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County and Florence Fuller Child Development Centers. Edith’s love of animals is revealed by her support of Tri-County Animal Rescue.
